Your kids will step away from their screens and experience the real world of nature with outstanding environmental educators from all over the country. Broken down into separate age groups, they will hike, explore rivers, play games and learn about nature while having the time of their lives. In the afternoon, kids meet back up with their families and enjoy afternoon and evening programs including fun presentations (like bear-tracking dogs or birds of prey), an ice cream social or star gazing. The last night of the Summit, your child’s group will present an original skit that they have developed during their Summit week. It’s the most popular event of the Summit and a time for the kids to share their unique experiences with the adults!
Your 3 to 12-year-old kids will beg you to come back after spending a week doing fun, educational activities in nature with a small group of kids their age.
How our Youth Program Works
Our daytime youth program starts at 8:00 AM each day. Ending times vary based on the program (see below). Each program is tailored for the different age groups with increasing challenges and adventures for older kids. Kids will explore each unique location in a variety of ways such as hiking, water activities and learning about nature all while having fun. Afternoons are free for family activities or just taking a break. If you attend a late afternoon field trip, we have child care available (for a small fee) until 3:30 PM. Evening programs are family friendly and fun.
We hire experienced environmental educators who are passionate about teaching kids about the natural world to provide a safe and fun environment. All educators are first aid certified and carry first aid kits. We can accommodate a variety of allergies and diets.
Two months before the Summit, we send out detailed schedules and packing lists to help you prepare for your big family adventure. On the first evening, you and your child will have the opportunity to meet the group leaders and review the week together. In the meantime, contact us at info@familynaturesummits.org with any questions.
