Roy Michelotti, a resident of Los Alamos NM, has been attending Summits since 1986. Most years, the Summit was THE family summer vacation, with three kids who couldn’t wait for the next Summit. An Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory for over 35 years, his day job keeps him mostly indoors. He is an avid hiker, and backpacker and is no stranger to skis, snowshoes, kayak, canoe, or a climbing rope. Inspired by Summit faculty he has become a student of natural history; he is a volunteer with the Los Alamos annual butterfly count, and bird banding stations in the Jemez Mountains. A veteran of many Summit hikes as a participant, he has been a hike assistant and a hike leader, and is a regular on the Summit Programming Committee.
