HIKING OVERVIEW

Part 1 of a 3 Part Series

Hikes are always a big part of the Family Nature Summit and we once again will have a wide range varying from Easy to OMG/Extremely Difficult!

To start off this Hiking Series, we wanted to highlight a couple of Easy Hikes – 1) Intro to Alpine Hiking and 2) Picnic Rock, both will be offered on the first day of the Summit.

Intro to Alpine Hiking – This hike is our “Introduction to Alpine Hiking” for those not sure of their abilities. Round trip is 2.4 miles. We’ll use the Pacific Crest Trail to visit Azalea Lake, a picturesque lake bordered by striking granite slabs. There may even be a chance for a quick dip into the water for those who don’t mind the chilly water temperatures found in the alpine lake(s).

Picnic Rock – Round Trip is a little more than 2 miles. Partly shaded climb with just 300 feet in elevation gain. The trail takes you out to a rocky point with fabulous views of Lake Tahoe.
